Please remember that many Universities award scholarships on a first come, first-served basis. Most scholarships have deadlines starting in October. By March 15th, 75% of the scholarship deadlines have passed. Be sure to check whether your application needs to be postmarked by the deadline or received by the deadline.

Please note that you must print out Teacher Recommendation forms to give to teachers who are recommending you. The Teacher Recommendation forms MUST be used. Letters of recommendation are not accepted.

MECA is offering two $500 scholarships to deserving students. To qualify, parents or guardians of the student must be members of Glacier Electric Cooperative and the student must plan to attend college in the fall of 2012.

The AXA Foundation in association with US News and World Report is offering $10,000 scholarships to one student in each state based on the following criteria: US citizen or legal resident; current high school senior planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college in 2012, demonstrate ambition and self drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in an activity in school, the community or the workplace; be recommended by an unrelated adult.

The Elks National Foundation awards scholarships to children and grandchildren of Elk members who are high school seniors, going on to college and exhibit the core values of the Elks National Foundation: Knowledge, Charity, Community and Integrity.

The KFC Scholars Program is dedicated to assisting students with financial need who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a public institution within their legal state of residence. Students must meet the following criteria: graduate from high school this academic year; maintain a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.75; enroll in a public, in-state institution; pursue a bachelor’s degree; be a US citizen or permanent resident.

The GE-Reagan Foundation Program annually awards roughly 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships.

The Montana Community Foundation administers 40 scholarship funds and awards 150 scholarships in varying amounts to Montana students. While there are no scholarships specific to Glacier County, there are some state scholarships for which you may quality.

Tzu Chi Scholars, a scholarship program funded by Buddhist Tzu Chi recognized and assists outstanding college-bound high school graduates. Tzu Scholars are selected on the basis of financial need, academic achievement and community involvement.

First certificate or degree-seeking college students or graduating high school seniors attending a public college in Montana are eligible to receive the Governor’s Brightest and Best and Brightest and Best At Large Scholarships. Students 1) must have a 7-semester GPA of at least 3.0 or score a 20 on the ACT or a 1440 on the SAT; 2) been accepted at an eligible postsecondary institution within the Montana University System or a tribal college; 3) completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); and 4) have not received a MUS Honor Scholarship.

U.S. Bank Internet Scholarship Program, which will award up to thirty $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors entering college next fall. Winners will be selected at random.
In order to be eligible for the U.S. Bank Internet Scholarship Program, a student must be: A high school senior planning to enroll (or already enrolled) full-time in an accredited two- or four-year college or university; Enrolled by September 2012 in a full-time course of study at an accredited school; A United States citizen or permanent resident alien.

The Montana Association of Clerks and Recorders are offering a $1,000 scholarship to graduating senior majoring in business, political science, or government at a Montana university, college or vocational-technical school. Applications are judged on the basis of need, scholarship, school, and civic involvement.

The Montana Sheriff’s and Peace Officer Association announces the availability of two $750 scholarships to be awarded for the fall semester of 2009 to a graduating high school senior who is seeking a career in local law enforcement. Recipients will be selected based on need and academic ability as well as career goals.

Each year Montana PTA awards a limited number of tuition scholarships. Financial assistance is offered to Montana residents who are high school seniors or college students that need additional help in obtaining a bachelor’s degree toward the goal of becoming an elementary or secondary school teacher in the Montana public school system. The scholarship may be used at any Montana college or university that trains teachers.

The Black Mountain Software Scholarship for $500.00 is for any graduating senior in a Montana high school who is continuing his or her education in any accredited institution of higher learning regardless of field of study. This included such institutions as trade schools, technical schools, colleges or universities.

Youth Serve Montana Scholarships are available to Montana high school seniors who have performed 100 hours of volunteer service for their community. Each student who applies and qualifies can receive $1000 towards continued education at one of Montana’s public, tribal, private, community or technical colleges.

Universal Athletics will award a $500 scholarship to one male and one female student athlete graduating from a Montana high school.

The BigSun Organization is offering an annual scholarship to student athletes. The successful applicant will be a high school senior or attending a post secondary institution and currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community.

AES Engineering is offering scholarships to motivated students to help in the furthering of their education. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated the essays that are submitted. Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.
