NMSAA Spring 2002 Meeting Minutes

by Tara Thielman, Secretary/Treasurer

Spring Meeting of the NMSAA

Monday, April 29, 2002

Shelby Administrative Offices

9:00 AM to 12:15PM

Meeting opened at 9:05

Changes and additions to the agenda took place.

Volleyball discussion took place regarding playing 3 or 4 triangular matches each week to even out the Saturdays.  Decided to keep the schedule the same to see how it will work this next year since the H.S. seasons were switched.  Will revisit this next spring.

Introduced Ray Wanti of Shelby and Darrell “Poor Boy” Croft of Browning Boarding School.  Mr. Croft wants to join our Boys’ Basketball League in 7th grade only. It was discussed and accepted if BBS would travel with East Glacier who has only a 8th grade team. This was unanimously accepted.

Constitutional Amendments

  1. Final Four for basketball teams should have to pay $20.00 fee to host school just as the other sports do for their final four tournaments.  Seconded Mike Perry. Passes unanimously.

  1. Zone defense should not be allowed in the 7th grade games.  8th grade teams will remain the same as last year. Seconded.  Motion passes by majority.  Cut Bank disagreed.

  1. Discussion involving lower teams having a basketball tournament on the same weekend as final four tournaments.  Was decided against.

Election of Officers

Motioned and passed unanimously that Jim Gregg remain the President and Tara Thielman remains secretary/treasurer.

Scheduling then took place for next year.
