Meeting called to order at 9:15 AM
Update additions to agenda? Several added
Reading of minutes is approved. Motion & seconded to accept as read. Vote unanimous.
Contitutions reading Johanna had a question regarding constitutional reading of age limit for team members. Can 15 year olds participate? Should there be an age limit for MS athletes? Discussion followed Section 2 wrestling and Section 4 Track age limit. Motion to eliminate the age limit wording and change boys to students for wrestling participants in the previously mentioned sections. Seconded. Vote passed unanimously.
Johanna questioned technical fouls in basketball being given to players or coaches. MOA rules are to be used. Technical fouls for press or zone should be given to coach.
Johanna questioned if overtime should be counted as a 5th quarter. No it is an extention of the 4th quarter.
**Johanna DLS needs to be on the wrestling section. Motion DLS needs to be added to sections 2. Seconded. Voted unanimously.
Johanna questioned weight limits for track. Discussion took place.
Mercy rule in basketball discussion took place. Local control is needed. Speak to coaches about sportsmanship for the coaches and players.
**Volleyball MOAs should be used in Basketball & Volleyball preliminary tournament games as well as the regular tournament games. Motion change wording to post season games for VB & BB. Seconded. Vote passed unanimously.
**Discussion of payment of referees took place. Motion—Form NMSAA Officiating Pool to use for middle school officials—MOA & otherwise—and recommended pay rate (JV rate for MOAs and minimum of $15.00 for non-MOAs) Put wording Create new Section I Article IV and bump the rest up. Wording is as follows (An annual list of officials and pay rates will be created for this association. This list will be distributed to member schools at the beginning of each school year.) Get names to Jack Underwood this spring. Seconded. Vote passed unanimously.
Discussion of Shelby’s volleyball proposal took place. Motion—Go to a two-three match week instead of jamboree format. Second. Vote passed unanimously.
Volleyball game wording change Motion—2 out of 3 to 25 win by two—cap of 30. Final score could be 30/29. Third game to 15 cap of 17. Final score could be 17/16. Second. Vote passed unanimously.
Motion for suspension of dues for next year was made. Seconded. Vote passed unanimously.
Fall meeting is Monday, October 24, 2005.
**Article V Section I Motion—any member district that is not represented at these three meetings, can be removed from the association by a majority vote of the membership. Second. Vote passed unanimously.
Selection of officers—both Tara & Jim will remain as secretary and president respectively. Vote passed unanimously.
