NMSAA JANUARY 2006 WINTER Meeting Minutes

by Tara Thielman, Secretary/Treasurer

06 NMSAA Winter Meeting

Shelby Administration Building

January 16, 2006

Meeting called to order at 9:20 am

Robert Swanson is representing Valier.

No additions or changes of the minutes. Motion to accept minutes as read. Seconded and unanimously.

Table item IV track weight discussion until spring meeting.

Johanna asked about what happens in a 7th grade game when a team is playing 1 guy down. What happens to the other team defense since man-to-man is required in 7th grade games. Discussion insued. Does the team with 5 pull a player or have the 5th kid stand by the bench when his team is on defense? It’s the Coach’s decision.

Man-to-man defense—legal guarding rule for man-to-man is 6 feet. It’s up to the official to determine who has possession and then tells the player to back off when there is no press and man-to-man is required. Help defense is ok.

BBB Final Four Tournament seeding took place.

Jim discussed a letter by Mark Gage regarding the tournament being held at the Boarding Dorm. The number one team will make the decision regarding where the tournament will be held. The Boarding Dorm made the decision to host the tournament at Browning Middle School because of seating fans. Discussion also took place about the safety of the Boarding Dorm Gym. Others said that other than being a small gym and having no locker rooms, the gym is safe.

Final Four information was handed out. Concessions will be available at both tournaments. Bring towels.

Roster Updates: Jim will update the rosters on the web site this PM.

Pat Harmon from CJI was introduced as its representative.

Next meeting in Monday, March 13, 2006.

Motion to adjourn seconded and approved unanimously.

Bank Account $370.07.
