NMSAA 2011 Spring Meeting Minutes

NMSAA Spring Meeting

Monday, April 18, 2011
9:00 AM
Meeting came to order at 9:03 AM
Attendance: Jim Gregg, John Shepherd, Scott Reding, Tara Thielman, Loren Tacke, Mike Schmidt, Wendy Goodheart, Jill Dahinden, Jon Riordan, Tyson Byers,
Tom Reynolds, Gail Hofstad, Brandon Kavanagh, Brian Thompson, and Poor Boy Croff were here in attendance Jamie Courville from Havre was also in attendance.
Corrections or additions to the agenda-Item V. will be a motion to accept SB, VAL & CJI’s leaving the NMSAA. This bumps down the rest of the items. Also add
the election of officers to the agenda. Shelby would like to add discussion involving bb scheduling proposal.
Last meeting minutes read and accepted with minor grammar changes. Motion made, seconded, and passed unanimously.
Note: Jim had HB AD’s letter was returned to Jim being unaccepted.
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer’s report: $419.95 in checking account. Member schools will need to pay $50.00 dues for the 2011-2012. Motion made to accept report.
Seconded. Passed. Unanimously.
Poor Boy Croff’s email will be scratched from the AD directory. Use phone or fax to contact him.
CJI & Valier expressed their thanks to the NMSAA, but they are joining their 10C league. The driving force behind this was the board and basketball. CJI & Valier
would like to still schedule wrestling and track. Valier would like to possibly schedule basketball.
A motion was made to accept SB, VAL, & CJI resignations from the league. Seconded. Passed unanimously. Jim will write a letter to those schools thanking them for
their participation and wish them well.
Constitutional changes—none.
Shelby proposed having a boys’ basketball round robin on Saturdays and staying away from school night games. Another issue is traveling time and cost reduction.
They are also looking at a season reduction. We could look into having 7th & 8th grade at different sites. Loren said that Final Four could be on Dec. 17th and start
the Monday after MEA. Start dates & end dates for scheduling took place. 1st day for fall practice is Monday, August 22, 2011. Final Four GBB is week of October
10th-15th. October 10th is fall meeting. October 17th is 1st day for BBB practice. Final Four BBB is week of December 12-17th. December 12th is the winter meeting.
1st day for VB is January 9th. Final Four VB is the week of February 27-March 3rd. February 12th is winter II meeting. 1st day of WR practice is February 6th.
March 17 is divisional wrestling at Browning. 1st date of Track practice is March 26th. April 16th is our spring meeting.
Non-member schools will only have to pay meet entrance fees not league dues.
Jamie Courville is looking for GBB, BBB, & VB games with our league.
Scheduling took place.
Officer nominations took place. Tara nominated Loren Tacke as Secretary-Treasurer. Seconded by Jim Gregg. Loren doesn’t want to accept nomination. Jim is willing
to stay on for one more year. Motion made & seconded to leave the secretary-treasurer position open until new school year. Motion passed unanimously. Then a new
motion and second for Jim to be president again was made. Passed unanimously.
Motion made & seconded to adjourn meeting.
